Startup Nanaimo has gone global! In April, our Startup Nanaimo team had the opportunity to expand our Youth Entrepreneurship Program to the Brong Ahafo Research & Extension Centre in Ghana at the Sunyani Polytechnic Campus. This workshop series helped youth to understand the concept of entrepreneurship and convergence; how to create value; business basics; prototyping; marketing; finance; and how to pitch. The program wrapped up with a “Lion’s Den” final pitch competition with cash prizes for the students. Throughout the workshop we were able to connect youth with entrepreneurs in the community to coach them on their business.
Youth need to understand that entrepreneurship is an option for them and that they can create their own opportunities through business. Stay tuned for where Startup Nanaimo goes next!
